1912-yilgi Indianapolisdagi 500-Mile poygasi yoki Xalqaro 500-milli Sweepstakes poygasi oʻz tarixida ikkinchi bor oʻtkazilishi edi[1]. Poyga 1912-yil 30-may, payshanba kuni boshlandi. Indianada tug‘ilgan poygachi Joe Dawson poygada g‘alaba qozondi. Ralph DePalma poygada davomida 200ta davraning 196 tasida yetakchilik qildi. Bir yil oldin birinchi 500 milya poygasida Ray Harrounning bir oʻrindiqli Marmon „Wasp“dagi gʻalabasidan soʻng, yangi qoidalar ishlab chiqildi. Dvigatelning maksimal hajmi 600 kub dyuym (9,83.3) boʻlishi belgilandi. Mukofot jamgʻarmasi 50 000 AQSh dollarini tashkil etgan.
29 ta arizachidan 24 tasi poygada qatnashish huquqini qoʻlga kiritdi. David L.Bruce-Brownn 88,45 ball bilan eng tezaylanish natijasini qayd etdi (milya (142,35km/soat). Lekin boshlangʻich pozitsiyalar yana kirish sanasi boʻyicha aniqlandi (arizalar tartibi boʻyicha). Beshta mashinani birinchi toʻrt qatorga va toʻrtdan beshinchi qatorga qoʻyildi. Oʻtgan yilgi boshlangʻich usulidan oʻzgarish boʻldi. Bu Stutzning birinchi qatorning ichki qismidan maydon oldiga joylashishi edi.
Oʻsha paytdagi qizil start bayrogʻi bilan Teddy Tetzlaff Fiat avtomobilida birinchi qatorning uchinchi boshlangʻich pozitsiyasidan oldinga chiqdi va hammani ortda qoldirdi.
Dawson Amerikada ishlab chiqarilgan, toʻrt silindrli Nationalda harakat qildi. Gʻalaba vaqti 6:21:06 va oʻrtacha 78,719 milya (126,686 km/soat)ni tashkil etdi. Gʻolib mukofot puli va boshqa mukofotlarni qoʻlga kiritdi.
